I’m going to tell you a secret. I hope I don’t regret it, because this is my favorite place in the park. Ready? Okay. (Deep breath.)
The best place for a cranky baby in Disneyland is the Baby Center. (There is also one in California Adventure.)
Sit down for a bit and I will tell you a story about why this is my favorite place.
Last year, we visited Disneyland with my 1 year old son, my 10 year old niece, and 5 year old daughter during the busy season – two days after New Year’s. It was a hard trip for us already. My grandmother had just had a heart attack and we had spent a couple nights with her while she had heart surgery in Vegas.
We left for Disneyland the day after her surgery – it was a long drive and we got lost. When we finally got to Disneyland, it was spectacular, except my son ate bubbles and it didn’t go so well. (I’ll save that story for next time.)
Luckily, he perked back up the next morning. We checked out of the hotel, and went to the park (the hotel held our luggage).
My niece, daughter and husband were having a great time. My son and I, not so much. Poor guy was so tired from being awake all night. So we were looking for someplace quiet. I walked him around for a bit in my Tula (lifesaver) and he fell asleep. When he woke up, he was in a better mood and we visited Mickey and some rides. He was tired. However, the rest of our party wanted to go on the Matterhorn.
The line was 3 hours.
My son was upset and crying. He couldn’t understand where everyone went and he was having sensory overload. I walked over to the Baby Center to breastfeed him.
I love that they have a private space for moms to breastfeed. That calmed him down, but he was still upset. So I bought him some baby food (cash only!) and sat down to feed him. Then we changed his diaper. And then breastfed him again.
By the end of this, he had calmed down and was ready to happily snooze. Cranky toddler was content and I left the Baby Center. The ladies there were super attentive, friendly, and I was so grateful for their help.
Moral of the story? If you find yourself with an overstimulated cranky toddler, go to the Baby Center to calm down. It’s the best. I promise.
